It has been a crazy month and a half of school, transitioning back into the building and getting accustomed to a routine. 6th Grade- Students have learned the proper bow hold and posture, and they are now applying the bow hold and posture to playing on the D and A strings (D and G strings for basses). We are continuing work in the Essential Elements Book 1, pages 11-13. Some concepts include Down/Up Bows, Repeat Signs, Quarter Note, Quarter Rest, and counting. 7th and 8th Grade- Students have reviewed posture and bow hold, and they are expected to demonstrate proper bow hold and posture during class and while playing. Students have reviewed some basic concepts in the Essential Elements Book 1, and they are now sight-reading sheet music for the Winter Concert. I want to emphasize the importance of staying positive. Good practice makes perfect, and we need to support one another in order to work well and play well in orchestra. It is a difficult year, I understand. But, we can do it if we focus. First concert of the year will be a virtual concert on Tuesday, December 7th, most likely recorded and not live-streamed, since we cannot allow parents into the school building. However, it is subject to change depending on school/district policy changes. Proper uniform attire is still required (Blue Orchestra Polo Shirt, black pants, and black shoes). Students will not be allowed to perform if they are not dressed appropriately, as outlined in the orchestra syllabus. They will have an alternate assignment to make up their grade. Hello Parents and Students,
We are almost finished with the school year. Students are required to return school-issued Chromebooks. I have attached the return schedule. Face-to-face students will return their Chromebooks in-person on Friday, May 21. Virtual students will return Chromebooks on designated dates and times, based on grade and last name. Please take note. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Dear Parents and Students,
It is coming to the end of the school year, and I need borrowed instruments returned back to school. The drop-off process should be very quick. Please come to the back door of the orchestra room. This is very important that you show up to drop off your instrument. In-person students are encouraged to bring their borrowed instruments to class to drop it off. Virtual students can bring them in on Wednesday 5/12. ** If you cannot come on a Wednesday, then you can drop off the instrument at the FRONT OFFICE any MONDAY, TUESDAY, THURSDAY, or FRIDAY from 8:30am-3:00pm. Please have the instrument labeled with the student name and grade** Directions: At the front of the school at the top of the steps, you will see the gym on the left, and front office on the right. Take the sidewalk on the left past the gym, and keep following the sidewalk. I will have signs posted. Instrument Drop-Off Sign-up Thank you for your time and cooperation. School year is almost done, so hang in there! |
