**DUE WEDNESDAY 5/06/2020- THE BAROQUE PERIOD** There are several periods of music, or eras, in the overall topic of classical music. When we hear the word "Classical", we think of these stuffy old music that originated from Europe, and that's pretty correct! But, we call this music "classical" because they survived the test of time. After all these years (100-400 years), there are still a big population of people who like this genre of music, for whatever reason they have. In orchestra class, we are introduced to classical music first because of the instruments we play in orchestra class all originated from Europe a few hundred years ago, and these were the types of instruments they used to play the music we hear in "classical music". Look at this presentation of the Baroque Period. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1hTJohLMJqT71lHroaEYRJR8cRtz86HIcxJO3TOzN_Bw/edit?usp=sharing Assignment: Research at least 3 instruments (stringed or woodwind) that are used in Baroque Music. **DUE FRIDAY 5/08/2020: SURVEY FOR ORCHESTRA CLASS 2020-2021** Hey everyone, please take the time to give me at least one input for orchestra class in the new school year. We don't know how classes will be when we go back to school, but I want to have you all give me some suggestions and ideas. Remember, the ideas have to be sensible and doable, and if it breaks any school rules, I will ignore them. Below, I have attached a link to a survey form. I have included suggestions on what you can think about, as it pertains to orchestra. I really want to make your middle school orchestra experience fun and make you want to be in orchestra. We will see at the beginning of the school year what is done, but let me know! Please take this seriously :) https://forms.gle/wsSv5j2PW7c4WukC9 When you are done with the form, please answer on this assignment that you did it. It will be an easy grade :) |
