Hello Everyone, I want to inform you all of an opportunity for any student that has 2+ years experience playing a string instrument. Kennesaw State University is holding their annual String Day. It is an all-day event where students will work with string teachers, conductors, and watch a faculty recital. It is a nice opportunity to improve on their musical technique. The Holiday Break is just a week away, and we are winding down this semester. Study Guides have already been given out on Friday 12/13, and we have gone over them in class. If you were absent, please pick one up from Ms. Tang. Double check your grades to make sure you have turned in everything, and that Ms. Tang has a grade for you. The last grades of the semester will be put in on Friday. Congratulations on a wonderful concert!! I am proud !
We will continue to review concert etiquette and behavior. Final Exams and the end of the semester are upon us! In the next week or so, I will be handing out a study guide to help in studying for the exam. The exam shouldn't be too long, but I expect everyone to do their best on the last 2 days of this semester before break. 8th Grade - We will be sightreading "Jupiter" for LGPE, and continuing to work on "Legend of Duffy's Cut". 7th Grade - Review concepts and terms, and applying concepts and terms to "Sahara Crossing" and "Russian Music Box". - Review techniques individually and as a class. - Essential Elements. 6th Grade - Review terms and concepts through peer practice, and applying with other holiday music selections and Essential Elements. Attire: Black pants or long black skirt (with tights underneath), black shoes, black socks (if needed), blue orchestra polo shirt, one holiday accessory
Arrival in the Orchestra Room (Evening): 6:15pm--- Check-In, Tune, etc. Seated in your seats: 6:45-6:50pm Concert Start: 7:00pm Concert End: 8:00pm Bring: Clothes, music, instrument No phone usage or talking during the concert! Remember, we talked about concert etiquette! Set-Up Gym: 11:30am Double Orchestra Rehearsal TODAY! 8th Grade: 2nd & 3rd periods (Orchestra Room) 7th Grade: 4th & 5th periods (Gym) 6th Grade: 6th & 7th periods (Gym) I hope everyone had a great and relaxing Thanksgiving Break! Concert Week is upon us, and we are doing a lot to prepare. Thank you to some of our parent volunteers for agreeing to bring in food to feed the students before the concert, as well as help set up the gym for the rehearsals and performance. I really appreciate all the help putting this all together. Please refer to the Concert Information sheet (in the previous posts) for more information about the concert. PLEASE PICK-UP YOUR CHILD AT 8:00PM on THURSDAY 12/05 AFTER THE CONCERT! Rehearsal will be held in the gym during both their connection classes, so please get your instrument in the orchestra room and head directly to the gym for rehearsal. Attendance will be taken before the concert, so students need to check-in in order to be counted present. Please let Ms. Tang know ahead of time of any absences. Excused or Unexcused, there will be a make-up assignment (attached below and in the "Documents" section). This is counted as a TEST GRADE. We will be completing a Concert Reflection the day after the concert, listening to a recording of the performance. NO MORNING PRACTICE ON FRIDAY 12/06.
